For today's lesson in lockdown, Brenda has written and read a limerick...
St Swithin's Walcot · Lessons in Lockdown 20. Brenda's Lockdown Limerick

Vanity has taken a back seat
Gone is that wicked conceit
Some might say pride when obviously I
With chipped red nails drop by

If you see me with uncombed hair
And I really don’t seem to care
Rejoice with me knowing
I am positively glowing
Even though, I’m not all there

My clothes yes tattered & torn
But my eyes no longer mourn
For I’ve learned whats right
Neither black nor white
Just love to be reborn

As the scales drop from my eyes
I see the truth from the lies
Come join the dance
Your very last chance
Before the end is nigh!

Personally, I have been challenged in several ways throughout this time of lockdown!
Initially, at the start, on Good Friday, I was uplifted...strolling along my 'exercise' path, I noticed a very small periwinkle, peeping out boldly beneath a tangle of greenery, dressed in rich purple. This spoke to me so deeply about strength, courage and the need for me to recognise that however small and insignificant I may feel, I have a part to play in showing that I am a believer in, and follower of Jesus Christ, and all He is.
As time moved on, the second lesson was that 'it is far easier to give than to receive'. I have had to conquer my pride in asking for help....I am so grateful to those who have shopped for me when I have been isolated...Penny and my niece's husband have shared the load. But....do I REALLY need it? am I asking too much? Can I 'make do' this week? I am so grateful to all those who have been there for us. I would love to have been on the outside, contributing....but then God showed me that I, too, had a part to play, keeping in touch with others, especially those who had no-one close at hand to talk to. Praise the Lord for unlimited phone calls and emails!!!
Thirdly, I have been challenged regarding self discipline!!! and how!!! Time has seemed undefinable..sometimes dragging and at other times flying by! It has been all too easy to say 'later' and I have had to re-learn that word Discipline. To set myself an order and
as far as possible, to stick to it.
Praise God for all that He teaches us, especially in times such as this.
