Baptisms. |
Jesus Said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- Matthew 28:18-20 |
What is Baptism?Baptism (sometimes called christening) is a joyful occasion. Baptism is a sign of entering into faith in Jesus and making a new start with God.
When we are baptised (or if we bring our child for baptism), we make public promises of commitment to follow God,
and thus baptism is a vital part of our Christian discipleship and a sign that we (or our child) wish to join the family of the church. |
ThanksgivingFor some families of young children, they want to wait to let their child make their own decision to follow Jesus and be baptised. For others they want to mark the birth of their child, but do not feel comfortable making promises to God or committing to belong to the church. So for those who wish it, we also offer a service of dedication or thanksgiving for the gift of a child.
