An evening to pause, reflect and explore using words to help shape our journeys for the days ahead. No previous poetry experience required.
Sunday 31st October at 6pm
Can you believe it? It's already been a month since our last Men Behaving Dadly? MBD is our monthly toddler group for dads and their pre-school children. We meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month between 9.00am and 10.30am in the crypt at St Swithin’s.
Men Behaving Dadly is a growing community which builds friendship, support and encouragement between dads, all within the warmth and welcome of St Swithin’s.
Dear St Swithin’s,
Thank You for your kind gifts: Flowers, wine, cheese…..perfect! We shared the wine and cheese last night with family. It was delicious.
The boxes are now all emptied and we are enjoying our new home. We have had a very social week or two! We have enjoyed visiting a couple of churches nearby and expect to settle in quickly. The garden will be (another) project – something to look forward to.
We are sure of God’s calling here and will watch with interest as it unfolds. In the meanwhile you remain in our hearts and prayers. Thank you for being our ‘home’ church over the last 10 years or so.
With much love,
Paul and Debbie
BANES council really need your help with an urgent situation to home an Afghan husband and wife.
He speaks very good English, having taught the subject in Afghanistan, whereas she does not. They have both been through biometric testing and are eligible to work in the UK now.
The council are looking for a one bed property, it needs to be a place that they can use a home for 12 months. with a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge. They are keen to have a garden if possible. It could be anywhere in BANES but ideally Bath. They are being supported for the next three years through the Connecting Families Team in BANES and the council will be paying the rent initially. They have to move out of their current accommodation by the 12th Oct 2021 so as you can imagine we are now desperately looking for a property for them!

The Genesis Trust would like to thank everyone for their continued support of Bath Foodbank. Here is a short film that they have made this year which marks the ten years since the Foodbank in Bath started.
We have created two more opportunities to take our study of Galatians a bit further this term. On the evenings of the 10th and 24th of October at 6pm we will gather to study Galatians in a bit more depth together. Be prepared to listen, engage, discover, ask questions and hunger for more of what God is revealing to us through his Word.
We would love you to join us to give thanks for Les Cooper’s life here at St Swithin’s on Saturday 9th October at 11am. There will be a Memorial Service followed by a sandwich lunch afterwards in the crypt. If you have a good, short story of Les’s life and his heart for God, that you would like to share do come along prepared to share, the family would appreciate it!
We are taking the month of October to review and think about the pattern of how we gather as a church going forwards. We want to continue to hold a vision of being a whole, diverse church, where every generation and stage is welcome and able to worship. We recognise too that many of you are in very different places in how you engage.
Our Student & Young Adult LIFE group kicks off again on Wednesday 6th October at 7pm. We enjoy a delicious meal together, open God’s word, share what’s going on in our lives and pray.
Bath City Pastors are now back on the streets on Friday and Saturday evenings. We are looking for new people to join the teams, anyone from 20 years old upwards is welcome to come out one night to observe and then consider joining us. If you are interested, please email us and we can send you Angela or Richard's contact details to find out more.
We would love you to join us for a Harvest lunch together after the service on the 3rd October in the Crypt. It will be a simple meal together as we celebrate God’s continuing provision as well as providing some updates on our mission partners.
