As we tentatively edge out of the challenging season we’ve all been in, so we want to put in place some plans for the future. We believe that St Swithin’s primary purpose is to display God’s Splendour to a needy world, and to join in God’s mission as a thriving church here in Walcot.
Cafe Late is a relaxed space once a month for students and young adults to hang out over board games and puzzles, as well as free food and hot drinks. Our next one is Wednesday 26th January 2022 at 7pm and we'll be having fajitas. See you there! You are so welcome to join us for a delicious lunch at St Swithin's. Please book via the link below and let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Maybe you've heard that we're spending 2022 exploring what it means to walk by the spirit. There's so much for us to discover and learn this year. Sometimes books, songs and videos can be a real encouragement when going on a journey like this. So we've created this to help us all get started.... BANES have introduced new parking regulations, meaning that parking on single yellow lines in certain zones is not permitted on a Sunday. Parking is still permitted in the marked bays along London Road leading up to the roundabout, but these are obviously limited in number. Please do also check the signage before parking anywhere, to ensure there are no new Sunday restrictions in place. We are exploring the available options but in the meantime, if you are able to walk 5-10 minutes without difficulty, please could you consider parking a short distance away from the church to ‘free up’ the available parking nearer to the church for those who need it most? We will keep you posted over the coming weeks! This year’s Sunday gatherings will focus on discovering what it means to ‘Walk by the Spirit.’ One of the accusations put at the door of the contemporary church is that we have effectively become Binatarian, talking about Jesus and God the Father, but not finding the right place for the person and work of the Holy Spirit. ‘The Forgotten God’ as the author Francis Chan has written. We’re going to discover more of the Holy Spirit together this year, by looking at themes, systematics and books of the Bible, as well as some one-off Sundays. No Christian Experience happens without the work of the Holy Spirit, so we’ve got an amazing opportunity to discover more of what faith in practice look like this year as we ‘Walk by the Spirit’.
Mrs Jayne, the headteacher, has sent through a letter of thanks to the church for the generous donation of the vouchers that have been bought for St Andrews families. Thank you to all those who contributed. We are looking for a youth worker, an operations manager and a children and families worker to come and join our team here in Bath. Please spread the word and to find out more follow the link below. |
